Relishing sweet Green Moong dal dumpling

Ingredients

  • Green Moong -1/4 cup
  • Jaggery powder- 3/4 cup
  • Coconut grated1-/2 cup
  • Cardamom- 2
  • Anil Kozhukattai flour– 3/4 cup
  • Salt- as the need
  • Sesame oil or ghee- 2 Tsp
  • Water

Preparation

  • Wash and soak the green Moong overnight
  • Drain the water and pressure cook with 3/4 cup of water for 4 whistles
  • Mash the cooked Moong well in a heavy bottomed pan
  • Heat the mashed Moong with Jaggery
  • As the Jaggery melts to a watery consistency
  • Add grated coconut and cardamom, keep cooking
  • When it becomes thick switch off the flame
  • Cool down and make perfect sized balls

Dough preparation

  • In a bowl Mix kozhukattai, salt, oil, and water
  • Boil water and add flour to that
  • Cook till it reaches a batter consistency
  • Allow it to get warm
  • When it’s warm knead the dough
  • Divide into equal perfect ball sizes
  • Grease your hands with sesame oil and place the dough and sweet dumplings inside the mould to get a perfect Modaks outer shell shape.
  • Steam cook for 8mins
  • Enjoy hot soft whiter relishing green Moong Anil Kozhukattai.
